My First Wedding at Villa Dalmacija in Split, Croatia – A Career-Changing Experience

When I look back at my career as a wedding videographer, one date stands out above all the others – May 15th, 2024, the day I filmed my very first wedding at the iconic Villa Dalmacija in Split, Croatia. It wasn’t just another job. It was a turning point that completely changed the course of my career, opening the door to a new, more luxurious chapter of my life’s work.

And for that, I’m forever grateful.

How It All Began

The story started with Joseph, the groom, who is also the founder of DCT Group from Edinburgh. I had already been working with him and his company, creating content for their corporate events in Croatia. Over time, he became familiar with my style through Omega Frame, my videography brand.

When he and his fiancée Edel decided to get married in Croatia, he told me directly: “I want only you to capture our wedding.”

Hearing those words meant the world to me. Later, I found out that the agency organizing the wedding was initially skeptical, but Joseph believed in me and trusted my work completely. That trust became the foundation of one of the most beautiful experiences in my career.

Party time!

The Wedding at Villa Dalmacija

Villa Dalmacija is one of the most breathtaking wedding venues on the Dalmatian coast. Once a residence of the former Yugoslav president Tito, it’s now a place where history, elegance, and the beauty of the Adriatic Sea come together.

The ceremony was held right on the pier, overlooking the sea, with the villa standing gracefully in the background. It was a scene straight out of a movie – the kind of setting every destination wedding videographer dreams of.

From the very first moment, I felt an enormous responsibility. Edel, the bride, was radiant and deeply emotional. Joseph, calm yet overjoyed, couldn’t stop smiling. Every glance, every tear, and every laugh carried meaning. I knew I had to capture it all.

Running for the Perfect Shot

That day, I wasn’t just filming – I was running, literally, to every corner of the villa and the pier. My goal was simple: not to miss a single beautiful moment.

Together with my friend and talented colleague, Antonio Catipović from Noir Weddings, who was in charge of photography, we formed the perfect duo. Antonio’s eye for detail and artistic approach to photography inspired me even more to push my limits with videography.

Music played a huge role in the atmosphere, and I was proud to recommend two amazing professionals: DJ Goya and saxophonist Vanja. Their energy elevated the entire event. By the end of the night, it felt less like work and more like a celebration we were all part of.

Working with Weddings in Split

The agency behind the wedding was Weddings in Split. Even though they were initially unsure about me, by the end of the day we had built a strong connection. The wedding was such a success that we later began working on other projects together.

To me, that collaboration symbolized growth and trust – proof that when you give your heart to your work, people notice.

A Day That Changed My Career

Looking back, I realize this wasn’t just a wedding. It was a door opening to something greater. This was the day my career shifted from being just about filming weddings to becoming part of luxury destination weddings in Croatia.

It was the day I understood that God sometimes sends us opportunities that completely change our lives – and this was one of those moments.

Edel and Joseph were beyond happy with the final video, and that joy meant more to me than anything else. Knowing that my work will forever be a part of their love story is the reason I do what I do.

My second videographer, Jura Iljaš from LightSpark Media (my great support), and I worked side by side – we even rented extra cameras just to make sure we had as many angles covered as possible.

Final Thoughts

Filming at Villa Dalmacija in Split was more than a job – it was a blessing. It gave me lifelong memories, stronger collaborations, and a vision of where I want to go as a destination wedding videographer.

For any couples dreaming of a luxury wedding in Croatia, whether in Split, Dubrovnik, or anywhere along the Adriatic coast, I can say with certainty: your story deserves to be told with passion, dedication, and heart.

And if that story takes place at Villa Dalmacija, then you already have the perfect stage for the most unforgettable day of your lives.
